Seatbelt with Pretensioner and Force Limiter
Restrain occupants quickly and softens the impact on the occupant's chest.Seatbelts are the most basic restraining device for protecting occupants during a collision. Seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters effectively control the movement of the occupants within the limited cabin space and soften the impact on the occupants' chests(Figure 1). Restrain quickly and softens impact.Pretensioners instantaneously retract the seatbelts when a strong impact is sensed during a frontal collision, thereby quickly restraining the occupants. Force limiters keeps adequate tension force on the seatbelt to avoid the overload force applied to the chest. These devices together reduce the impact applied by the seatbelt to the chest while reducing the distance the occupant's chest moves during a collision. |
